Jewish Democratic Council of America Welcomes Democratic Party Platform
WASHINGTON –The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) praised the Democratic Party Platform language related to Israel, as well as a range of critical issues of importance to Jewish voters. JDCA Board Chair Ron Klein said the following:
“JDCA is proud to have provided strong input to the 2020 Democratic Platform Drafting Committee on Israel and other issues of importance to Jewish Americans, such as racial and ethnic justice, combating anti-Semitism, access to affordable education and healthcare, and gun safety. Now that the first draft of the Democratic Platform language is complete, we applaud the work of the Drafting Committee, which reaffirmed Democrats’ staunch support of Israel and other positions aligned with the priorities of Jewish voters in 2020.
“We are confident that the 2020 Democratic Party Platform will reflect the commitment of the Democratic Party and Joe Biden to strong U.S.-Israel ties, support of Israel’s security and right to self-defense, support of Israel as a Jewish and Democratic state, adherence to the 2016 U.S.-Israel Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), and a commitment to a negotiated two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. We are glad to see these principles in the first draft of the Platform and look forward to its passage by the full committee.
“This election isn’t just about politics; it’s about values. It’s about who we are as a country and our children’s future, and we’re proud that the Democratic Party Platform will represent our Jewish and Democratic values. The Jewish America vote has repeatedly proven critical in close elections in swing-states, and we know our votes again will prove critical in ensuring victory for Joe Biden and other Democrats in 2020.”
