Jewish Americans Voted Their Values
WASHINGTON – Following President-elect Joe Biden’s declaration of victory, Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) Executive Director Halie Soifer released the following statement:
“The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) congratulates President-elect Joe Biden.
“In this historic election, Americans have chosen unity over division, decency over hate, and science over fiction. We’ve chosen to restore the soul of our nation with President-elect Joe Biden, and are incredibly proud that overwhelming support among Jewish Americans ensured his victory in critical swing states. This moment is made all the more poignant as Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, who has deep ties to the Jewish community, becomes the first woman and woman of color to serve in this role.
“More than three-quarters of Jewish voters supported Joe Biden by a nearly-historic 56% margin (77-21) precisely because we voted our values and a majority of Jewish voters trust Biden more than Donald Trump on every issue, including Israel. JDCA is proud to have mobilized nearly 2 million voters in 14 key swing states in support of Joe Biden and more than 120 House and Senate candidates with nearly 200 voter engagement events, over 600,000 voter contacts, and powerful digital ads viewed more than 40 million times.
“Now is the time to unite behind President-elect Biden and Vice President-elect Harris, who will govern for all Americans. To our Republican counterparts, we hope you will join us in working to further our shared Jewish values after four long years of divisiveness and persistent, ongoing attacks on our democracy under Donald Trump.
“We look forward to working with the new administration to address the deadly pandemic, ensure access to affordable health care, combat climate change, end the epidemic of gun violence, strengthen the economy, combat racism, bigotry and anti-Semitism in all forms, support the U.S.-Israel relationship, strengthen U.S. alliances, and reestablish America’s role as a force for good in the world.”
