JDCA Statement on DNC Meeting in New Orleans
“We are glad to see the DNC’s Resolutions Committee’s rejection of two resolutions related to Israel, both of which were out of step with the policies of the Democratic Party, as codified in the 2024 Democratic Party Policy Platform.
We’re grateful to DNC Chair Martin for establishing the Middle East Working Group last year, and agree with the decision of the Resolutions Committee to refer these resolutions to the Working Group for discussion as opposed to adoption. We oppose both resolutions, and are pleased to see their overwhelming rejection by the Committee.
With regard to the resolution on AIPAC, we were also pleased with its defeat in the Resolutions Committee. We agree with the rejection of dark money in politics — a topic covered in another more expansive resolution adopted by the Committee — but also believe that singling out any individual organization is both unproductive and unnecessarily divisive.”
