JDCA Condemns Racist Chants at Trump Rally
WASHINGTON – In response to the Trump campaign rally in North Carolina last night, JDCA Executive Director Halie Soifer issued the following statement:
“Last night’s campaign rally in North Carolina demonstrated that the president continues to use hatred to divide Americans. Contrary to his claims, President Trump stood by as the crowd echoed his own rhetoric in a racist chant targeting members of Congress. The president’s incitement of this crowd to repeat his own hateful words was vile and un-American.
“Once again, President Trump justified his remarks by pointing a finger at past statements made by these members of Congress. While we have also disagreed with some of these members’ views on Israel, this is no excuse for the president’s racism. Jewish voters are appalled by this vile behavior and reject being used by the president as political pawns, which is one of many reasons they will overwhelmingly vote for Democrats in 2020.”
