On this day of remembrance

May 13, 2024

Today, we commemorate Yom HaZikaron and honor those lost in defense of Israel over the past 76 years, including in acts of terror. This year is particularly painful as we mark the first day of remembrance since Hamas’s horrific terror attack on October 7, which left over 1,200 dead and over 100 hostages still in Gaza, including eight Americans: Hersh Goldberg-Polin, Keith Siegel, Omer Neutra, Edan Alexander, Sagui Dekel-Chen, Itay Chen, Judith Weinstein Haggai, and Gad Haggai. May the memories of Itay, Judith, and Gad be a blessing.

As President Biden’s Ambassador to Israel, Jack Lew, said yesterday,

“Days like this underscore our shared pain, but they also highlight the unbounded resilience and endless resolve of the Israeli people.”

Today and every day, JDCA stands by the Israeli people and shares their commitment to bringing home the hostages and eliminating the persistent threat of Hamas. At JDCA, we are also working to elect Democrats who share our values, including strong support for Israel. And now is the time to get involved.

One such Democrat is Westchester County Executive George Latimer, running against incumbent Rep. Jamaal Bowman to represent New York’s 16th Congressional District, which is nearly 13% Jewish. The New York primary is just 43 days away, and we’re committed to ensuring he’s elected and defeats Bowman. We’re setting up phone banks to ensure Jewish voters make it to the polls in this crucial election in support of Latimer, who shares our values, and we hope you’ll join.

Sign up now to phone bank for NY-16 candidate George Latimer before the primary. We will follow up with details.

With just 175 days until the general election, this is one of the best ways we elect those who will defend democracy, stand by Israel, combat antisemitism, support abortion rights, advocate for gun safety, combat climate change, and stand with American Jews.

In solidarity,
