NEW POLL: Surging Jewish Support for Biden, Dems, Defending Democracy & Abortion Access

September 16, 2022

A new national poll of Jewish voters shows a surge of support for Democrats ahead of the upcoming midterms. It also demonstrates increased support for President Biden among Jewish voters since April, and that the future of democracy and protecting abortion access are the top two issues driving the Jewish vote. This poll confirms what we already knew: The Democratic Party will continue to be the political home of the overwhelming majority of Jewish Americans, and the GOP is completely out of touch with Jewish values and voters.

The recent Jewish Electorate Institute (JEI) poll found that:

– 70% of Jewish voters would support a Democratic candidate for Congress if the election were held today. That’s a 10% increase for Democrats since April.
– 70% of Jewish voters approve of how Joe Biden handles his job as president, a 7% increase from April.
– Only 19% of Jewish voters hold a favorable view of Donald Trump.
– 82% of Jewish voters disapprove of overturning Roe v. Wade.
– Jewish voters are prioritizing the future of our democracy and access to abortion, and their motivation to vote has increased due to the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and the January 6th hearings.

As we said in Haaretz, “This poll confirms that the overwhelming majority of Jewish voters are voting in the midterms to defend our democracy, ensure access to abortion, protect our planet, and enact common-sense gun safety measures. Support for Democrats is rising and support for the GOP is declining because, on all these issues and more, Republicans are dangerously out of touch with Jewish and American values.”

Jewish voters understand what is at stake in the upcoming midterms and will overwhelmingly support Democrats. Now is the time to put our values into action and to make sure the Jewish vote delivers for Democrats, ensuring Dems maintain – and even expand – their congressional majorities in November. Help us build on this momentum next week by joining our unprecedented ‘Path to Victory’ virtual rally on September 20 at 5:00 p.m. ET featuring more than 30 Democratic elected officials, candidates and celebrities, including Jon Lovett and Brian Tyler Cohen.
