Meet Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-GA)

November 18, 2020

In her short time in the Senate, Kelly Loeffler has aligned herself with bigoted antisemites, worked to strip healthcare away from Georgians as she downplayed the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic, profited off her power, and has attempted to undermine the electoral process.

Emboldening and Spreading Hate: Loeffler has aligned herself with far-right extremists and QAnon supporters who hold deeply antisemitic beliefs. She sat down for an interview with a known neo-Nazi, and she embraced and campaigned with Marjorie Taylor Greene, the newest member of the GOP’s QAnon caucus in Congress. Greene has posted racist, Islamophobic and antisemitic statements online.

In addition, Loeffler has used Jews as political tool to attack the Black Lives Matter movement, despite the fact that nearly 7/10 American Jews support Black Lives Matter and the marches for racial justice. Her attacks against Reverend Warnock are steeped in racism, and she has consistently attacked the movement seeking racial justice. As the part-owner of the Atlanta Dream of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA), Loeffler petitioned the league to keep the discussion around racial justice and political change out of the league. The players she employs rejected her statement and are now campaigning to elect Rev. Warnock.

Failure to Combat COVID-19, Fighting to Take Your Healthcare: Since March, Loeffler has echoed Donald Trump’s false claims about COVID-19, and when she was confronted with Trump’s admission that he always “sought to play” COVID-19 down, she admonished it as fake news. Like her Senate counterpart David Perdue, Loeffler benefited from stock trades worth millions of dollars of shares that were sold after a classified COVID-19 briefing. She also voted to support the Trump administration’s lawsuit to overturn the Affordable Care Act.

Claims of Voter Fraud: Citing no evidence, Kelly Loeffler attempted to destroy the credibility of our electoral process by making false claims of voter fraud in order to please President Trump.
