Make Your Voice Heard – JDCA Week of Action

April 21, 2022

With just seven months until the midterm elections, we’re preparing to ensure our voices and values are heard not just at the ballot box, but also in Congress, and we’re inviting Jewish Dems across the country to join us on May 11-12 for virtual meetings on Capitol Hill.

During JDCA’s 2022 Week of Action, you’ll have the opportunity to meet with dozens of members of Congress to discuss key issues of importance to Jewish Americans: combating antisemitism, domestic extremism, and white supremacy; protecting our democracy and voting rights; supporting a strong U.S.-Israel relationship; supporting Ukraine, and preventing a nuclear-armed Iran.

Sign up for our Week of Action to speak directly to members of Congress on the issues that matter most to you and to all Jewish Dems. Keep reading to learn more.

Polling consistently shows that nearly all Jewish Americans are worried about rising antisemitism and are deeply concerned about right-wing extremism. When we meet with members of Congress, JDCA activists will discuss the importance of bills like the Domestic Terrorism Prevention Act, which would strengthen the federal government’s ability to prevent and respond to domestic terrorism.  Despite the fact that Republicans have now opposed the bill, we will thank Democrats for supporting policies and funding that keep Jewish communities safe and encourage others to sponsor legislation that prioritizes the safety of our places of worship and Jewish institutions.

Less than seven months before the midterms, Jewish voters remain deeply concerned about voting rights and democracy, according to new polling from the Jewish Electorate Institute (JEI). Jewish voters overwhelmingly support eliminating the filibuster to pass federal legislation promoting voting rights, and reject Republican voter suppression and election subversion efforts. Jewish Americans understand that we cannot afford to let the GOP chip away at our democracy. When we meet with members of Congress, we will encourage them to take further action on voting rights and protecting our democracy and ensuring every American’s right to vote is protected.

Jewish Dems will always fight for Israel’s security and future as a Jewish and democratic state. During our Week of Action, we will thank Democrats for their continued support of Israel, including ensuring $1 billion in emergency funding for Israel’s Iron Dome. We will stress the importance of the historic U.S.-Israel partnership and the necessity of ensuring Iran does not acquire nuclear weapons. Additionally, we will underscore the importance of U.S. support for the people of Ukraine.

The Republican Party’s embrace of extremism, conspiracy theories, and fear-mongering demands action. We’re inspired by Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow’s powerful words this week as she stood up to dangerous GOP lies and conspiracies. We’re heeding Sen. McMorrow’s words, “hate will only win if people like me stand by and let it happen.”

Stand up against forces of hate and join JDCA’s Week of Action for a unique opportunity to ensure your voice is heard and engage members of Congress with a specific agenda that combines our Jewish and Democratic values. Don’t miss this exciting opportunity to take action ahead of the midterms.
