The horrifying scourge of terror in Israel has been traumatic and terrifying for all of us. Hamas murdered nearly 1,000 people, injured thousands, and is holding more than 100 hostage, including children. This crisis impacts us not just as Americans but also as Jews, and our hearts are broken. More Jews were murdered on October 7 than on any day since the Holocaust. For Israel, this was the equivalent of at least eight 9/11s.

We join President Biden, Congressional leadership, and nearly every Democrat in unequivocally condemning Hamas’s barbaric terrorism and supporting the State of Israel and its right to self-defense. We are appalled that Republicans continue to spread falsehoods about the Biden administration’s positions and actions and urge Senate Republicans to focus instead on ending their blockage of 300 senior Pentagon appointees and to join Democrats in swiftly confirming Jack Lew as U.S. Ambassador to Israel. In the House, we urge Republicans to elect a Speaker and govern.
