Jewish Dems Respond to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s Apology
February 11, 2019
WASHINGTON–In response to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s apology for an offensive tweet she made earlier, the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) issued the following statement:
“We welcome Rep. Ilhan Omar’s apology, recognition that her words were offensive, and indication that she is open to education on the painful history of anti-Semitic tropes. We hope this will be last time she repeats dangerous stereotypes targeting Jews and look forward to engaging with her to voice our deep concerns. We also note with regret her decision to equate AIPAC with the NRA and fossil fuel industry. Rep. Omar, you should have ended the statement at ‘unequivocally apologize.’ To do otherwise makes it equivocal.”
