It’s 294 days until the 2020 election, and this is not the year to be silent. Here at the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), we are talking about the most pressing issues facing both the nation and the Jewish community. We are leading the national conversation with principled positions on the issues of the day, and making news as we give voice to our values.
This weekend, JDCA led the conversation on two issues of crucial importance – anti-Semitism and Iran. With anti-Semitism on the rise, we are calling out hate and violence against Jews, no matter its origin. JDCA’s Board Chair, former Congressman Ron Klein, wrote an important op-ed in the Jewish Telegraphic Agency (JTA) calling on elected leaders to treat anti-Semitic attacks for what they are: acts of domestic terrorism.
We also continue to speak out on issues related to national security. As JDCA’s Executive Director and former national security advisor in Congress and the Obama administration, Halie Soifer, explained in The Hill, “No one questions whether Soleimani deserved his fate or whether he had American blood on his hands — he did, and he was a reprehensible terrorist. The question is whether the strike was justified by a specific imminent threat on U.S. forces or interests. All publicly available evidence, as well as the response of Congress, suggests it was not.”

JDCA is the only national Jewish organization talking about these issues in a way that represents our Jewish and Democratic values. 2020 is the most consequential election of our time – we cannot afford to be silent, and we want you to join us in speaking out in defense of our values.
