Jewish Dems Condemn Iranian Attack on Israel & Donald Trump’s Response

October 1, 2024

Earlier today, Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles at Israel. JDCA strongly condemns this latest attack and is grateful that the United States military coordinated closely with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) to help defend Israel against this attack and that there are no reports of Israeli deaths.

Amid growing instability and uncertainty in the Middle East, we deeply appreciate that President Biden and Vice President Harris stand with Israel. The Biden-Harris administration again, without hesitation, directed U.S. military assets and resources to directly defend Israel. With meticulous planning and precision, the United States helped to intercept dozens of Iranian ballistic missiles. No other administration has ever done this, and this is the second time the Biden-Harris White House has deployed the U.S. military to defend Israel this year. We appreciate the staunch support of the Biden-Harris White House when it comes to supporting Israel’s security and right to self-defense, and their unequivocal condemnation of Iran’s direct missile attack on Israel.

The actions of the Biden-Harris administration stand in stark contrast with the unconscionable statement made by Donald Trump, which clearly demonstrates that the national security interests of America and Israel are not his priority.

Even amid armed conflict, Trump can only think about himself and this election. He’s willing to engage in lies, apocalyptic hyperbole, and vitriol even as Israel is under attack. Trump continues to demonstrate – in his words and actions – that he’s uniquely incapable of serving as Commander-in-Chief and that Israel and our allies cannot rely on him – nor can the American people.

The Biden-Harris administration deserves bipartisan praise for countering this latest round of Iranian aggression, and we remain even more committed to ensuring that Donald Trump never again sets foot inside the White House.

We hope you’ll join us next week, on October 7 at 12:00 p.m. ET / 9:00 a.m. PT, for “One Year Later: Marking the Anniversary of October 7” as we consider the implications of this latest attack, mourn those lost, and continue to call for a release of the hostages. Register to attend the virtual event here.

In the meantime, we wish you a shana tova u’metuka, a happy, healthy, peaceful, and blue new year.

Sincerely,

Halie Soifer
