Jewish Americans Are Taking a Stand Against ICE
The Jewish community is outraged about ICE’s actions in Minnesota, and Jewish Americans are taking a stand against Trump’s authoritarianism and violence directed at immigrants and American citizens.
JDCA is proud to have mobilized state Jewish caucuses, Jewish leaders, and thousands of activists across the country in this critical moment. Together, we have already sent nearly 10,000 letters to our members of Congress calling for no additional funding for ICE and the impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. JDCA has also led a letter to congressional leadership, along with our Jewish Democratic state caucus partners, urging rigorous congressional oversight of ICE and investigations into the killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
We have an obligation to stand up and speak out against actions that are antithetical to our values. Join us in taking action:
- Demand Congress Take Action: Join the thousands of Jewish Americans who have sent nearly 10,000 letters to Congress calling for Secretary Noem’s impeachment, and urge your members of Congress to oppose increased funding for ICE in the absence of safeguards and credible investigations.
- Read and Share Our Jewish State Caucuses Letter: JDCA led a letter to congressional leadership, signed by leaders of Jewish Democratic state caucuses, urging Congress to conduct rigorous oversight of ICE and credible investigations into the killings of Alex Pretti and Renee Good.
- Prepare to Win in November: Flipping Congress from red to blue is critical to stopping Trump’s authoritarian overreach and Republican complicity. Together, we can elect Democrats who will hold the Trump administration accountable. Join your local JDCA Regional Network to help us get out the Jewish vote where it matters most.
Regardless of one’s views on immigration policy, no enforcement action should result in the loss of innocent life. The instability and chaos caused by ICE’s deployment to American cities is a threat to our democracy and all marginalized communities, and we vehemently oppose the use of lethal force against Americans exercising their rights.
Our Jewish tradition affirms that every person is created b’tzelem Elokim, in the image of God, and that preserving life is a paramount value.
We are also called on to protect the stranger, because we know all too well what it is like to be a stranger in a strange land. We cannot be silent, and we urge you to take action with us by calling for Secretary Noem’s impeachment and telling your members of Congress to oppose increased funding for ICE.
