Injustice at the Department of Justice

March 17, 2025

On Friday, while Jewish Americans were signing off for Shabbat, Donald Trump assailed our democracy and presented an enemies list in a deeply disturbing speech at the Department of Justice.

Donald Trump’s unhinged speech – given from the Great Hall of the Justice Department – demonstrated his proclivity for injustice and has wide-reaching ramifications for our democracy and First Amendment rights. Trump called for jailing political opponents, referred to January 6 insurrectionists as “hostages,” and urged retaliation against critics, including in the press.

The damage Donald Trump is doing to the rule of law will be difficult to repair, which is why we must call it out wherever we see it. We need bold and collective action to fight back against Trump and Musk’s trampling of the Constitution.

On Wednesday, JDCA members will discuss how we can take action at a powerful virtual event: “Finding Hopium with Simon Rosenberg.” If you’re not already a JDCA member, become one today for more chances to learn from experts and take action. And if you haven’t heard Simon Rosenberg – a Democratic strategist and policy expert – speak before, you don’t want to miss it.

Become a member of JDCA and join us Wednesday, March 19, at 12:00 p.m. ET for “Finding Hopium with Simon Rosenberg.” If you’re already a 2025 member of JDCA, thank you for your commitment to our movement – you should have already received a sign-up link in your inbox, and we hope you can join us.

Trump’s latest rhetoric at the Department of Justice is just the latest effort to erode our democracy. He continues to attack the First Amendment, illegally freeze federal funding, and attempt to take authority away from Congress, and we’re speaking out and taking action against it.

We hope you will join us on Wednesday to discuss how we can fight back.

In solidarity,
