Haaretz: Palestinian stabs Israeli border police officer near Ramallah and is shot
A Palestinian stabbed an Israeli Border Police officer between the settlement of Beit El and the Palestinian city of Ramallah in the West Bank on Friday afternoon. He was subsequently shot by Border Police on the scene.
The officer who was stabbed sustained moderate injuries.
Israeli forces are investigating whether the explosive belt the assailant was wearing was genuine. The assailant is suspected of pretending to be a journalist, approaching the officers and stabbing one of them. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, he is in critical condition.
Also on Friday, two Palestianians were killed and 70 were wounded in clashes that broke out in Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem between Israeli security forces and Palestinians protesting the Trump administration’s recent decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.
