Fight for Abortion Justice with Jewish Dems

May 3, 2022

JDCA is outraged to learn that the Supreme Court, with three Trump-appointed justices, plans to dismantle 50 years of settled law, stripping Americans of their right to access safe abortions. Overturning Roe v. Wade defies the values and moral convictions held by the vast majority of Jewish Americans, 75% of whom are concerned about the possibility of Roe being overturned. As President Biden stated, “Roe has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned.” Keep reading for JDCA’s response to this development, and what you can all do to take action.

Despite ongoing Republican obstruction, Democrats have the majority in the House and Senate, and it’s incumbent on them to use that majority to send legislation codifying Roe to President Biden’s desk. It is past time the Senate end the arcane filibuster to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act and guarantee the right to access abortion for all Americans. Jewish Dems will not allow Americans to be stripped of our fundamental rights, including abortion access.

Now is the time to take action, mobilize, and urge members of Congress to protect our values. Bring your voice and values (virtually) to Capitol Hill for JDCA’s annual Week of Action on May 11 and May 12, when we will express our outrage and demand action nullifying this unconscionable – and not yet final – SCOTUS decision.

Sign up for Week of Action meetings and events below, including our May 10 kickoff event with Senator Cory Booker, Michigan State Senator Mallory McMorrow, and Executive Director of Integrity First for America (IFA) Amy Spitalnick.

This decision will likely fall to voters in November, and JDCA will do all we can to defeat anti-abortion Republicans and elect more pro-choice Democrats. Join the fight by signing up for JDCA’s second annual Week of Action on May 11 and 12.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for being a part of our movement.

Sincerely,
