🚨 ELECTION ALERT: Ohio Goes to the Polls 🚨

April 29, 2022

Despite the fact that the midterm elections are just over six months away, primary elections have already begun and are taking place this Tuesday in Ohio. In this swing state, JDCA has endorsed two incredibly strong candidates – Rep. Shontel Brown (OH-11) and Rep. Tim Ryan for U.S. Senate. Both candidates are deeply committed to JDCA’s values and have close relationships with the Ohio Jewish community, and we’re proud to mobilize Jewish voters on their behalf to ensure they win on Tuesday and in November.

Rep. Shontel Brown is keeping her promises to deliver key investments for OH-11. She is a proven and dedicated friend to our community and is committed to combating antisemitism and defending Israel’s security. Rep. Tim Ryan, who is running for U.S. Senate, is fighting to create good-paying jobs, raise wages, strengthen access to healthcare, and protect our planet. Rep. Ryan has long been a friend to Jewish Americans and is deeply committed to Israel’s security. To help us get out the Jewish vote in Ohio, where we know it will make a difference, support JDCA PAC today and read in Axios about how JDCA’s involvement in early primaries.

The work of JDCA and JDCA PAC was critical to ensuring Shontel Brown won the OH-11 Democratic primary less than a year ago. In the final weeks of the election, we deployed an aggressive online ad campaign that reached each of the 22,000 Jewish voters in OH-11 over 100 times. In four cities with substantial Jewish populations, voter turnout in that primary nearly doubled that of the OH-11 general population. Rep. Brown’s margin of victory was a staggering 63% in those cities, much higher than elsewhere in the district. She won by just 4,200 votes, overcoming a 36-point deficit in the polls. As Rep. Brown acknowledged, turnout in the Jewish community “helped me get over the finish line” to victory in 2021. This year, we’re redeploying our proven model of success, reaching all of OH-11’s Jewish voters in support of Shontel Brown where they are online, with digital ads, and emails.

Next week’s Republican primary puts the GOP’s embrace of dangerous extremism on full display. The Republican Senate candidate will likely be a far-right extremist who has fully embraced Donald Trump’s dangerous agenda. Winning in Ohio is key to Democrats expanding our majority in the Senate. Support JDCA PAC today to help make sure we flip this crucial Senate seat from red to blue and read more about how Jewish Dems are taking action.

Yesterday, in honor of Yom HaShoah, JDCA joined President Biden and other Jewish leaders at the White House for a special showing of “The Survivor,” a new film about Auschwitz survivor and boxer Harry Haft. President Biden’s commitment to preserving the memory of the Holocaust is sacrosanct and we were honored to commemorate this occasion with the President.
