Does Trump Give a S**t?
This weekend, approximately seven million Americans took to the streets in more than 2,700 cities in all 50 states to protest Donald Trump’s authoritarian overreach, his violent crackdown on immigration, his attacks on American citizens and perceived political opponents, his weaponization of the Department of Justice, and his disregard for the U.S. Constitution. The message was that we don’t have – nor do we want – a king in the United States.
What was Trump’s response to the “No Kings” protests? Well… it was pretty sh*tty.
The day after the protests, Donald Trump shared an AI video of himself wearing a golden crown, flying a fighter jet, and dumping feces on protestors in New York. As disgusting as this is, I’m sure none of us are surprised by the depravity of Trump’s vulgar response and the failure of GOP leaders to condemn it.
What Trump’s response tells us is that this weekend’s protests had an impact. Apparently, Trump doesn’t want the American people expressing opposition, and he’s willing to threaten them with images dumping human excrement on their heads to express his outrage. With over 2,700 rallies across the country, Saturday’s protests are estimated to have been the largest single-day protest in American history – and Trump knows it. We have to continue to make our voices heard.
Trump and Republicans are rattled by the protests and by their sinking poll numbers – and they should be. A majority of the American people blame the GOP for the government shutdown. They know our freedoms and rights are being violated by Trump’s militarization of American cities and ICE’s violent attacks on citizens and immigrants. And they see Trump and the GOP creating a permission structure for hate, as we saw in the recently exposed racist and antisemitic Young Republican messages that praised Hitler and referenced gas chambers.
While Trump might not give a sh*t about our rights, our safety, or our democracy, Democrats do. That’s why we need to do all we can to elect Democrats who will defend our values – and we have an opportunity to do so in just 15 days.
Support and join our efforts in New Jersey, Virginia, and across the country to elect Democrats.
Thank you for your partnership and support.
