Dictator on Day One
Donald Trump, the most dangerous demagogue in the history of our republic, this past weekend threatened to “root out the communists, Marxists, fascists and the radical left thugs that live like vermin within the confines of our country that lie and steal and cheat on elections.” He also claimed that “immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country,” which echoes Adolf Hitler. This isn’t hyperbole. Hitler used allegations of “blood poisoning” in Mein Kampf and references to Jews as “vermin” in Nazi propaganda. This unconscionable, depraved, and incredibly dangerous rhetoric has no place in our politics or country — it must be stopped.
The similarities between Hitler’s rise to power and that of Donald Trump — who has pledged to be a “dictator on Day One” — are abundantly clear. Trump continues to praise authoritarian leaders of other countries, including Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Hungary’s Viktor Orban, China’s Xi Jinping, and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un. He continues to peddle election denialism and threaten our democracy. And he has a long history of trafficking in dangerous antisemitic tropes.
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: The parallels between Donald Trump and the rise of Nazi Germany cannot be ignored. Watch JDCA PAC’s ads from 2020 and 2022 warning about Donald Trump’s threat of fascism.
We cannot allow this to become normalized, nor can we ignore it and hope it goes away. We at JDCA will not look away.
Thank you for being a part of our movement.
