Dems are Making History

August 12, 2022

Senator Chuck Schumer stands at the podium with his arms raised in celebration and a smile. Behind him is businessman Joshua Aviv, President Joe Biden, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, and Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, who are smiling and clapping.

Later today, House Democrats will pass the Inflation Reduction Act and send it to the President’s desk, marking another landmark bill enacted into law by President Biden. The Inflation Reduction Act is a historic accomplishment for Democrats, who are delivering for Americans. It will lower the deficit and reduce the impact of inflation, ensure healthcare is more accessible and affordable, and make the most significant investment in combating climate change in U.S. history.

Democrats are delivering. In addition to passing the Inflation Reduction Act this week, President Biden signed the PACT Act, providing needed healthcare benefits to our veterans. The President also recently signed the CHIPS and Science Act to boost U.S. manufacturing of semiconductors and executive orders protecting the reproductive rights of those seeking an abortion. Democrats are leading and making history, but it could all be reversed in the midterms.

Kevin McCarthy, Mitch McConnell, and other Republican leaders have already told us what they plan to do if they assume control of Congress. They will advocate for a national abortion ban, cut Social Security and Medicare, and stop the investigations into Trump and the January 6th insurrection. After this week, they are threatening to investigate the Department of Justice for doing their job and enforcing the law. On this solemn five-year anniversary of the deadly Unite the Right neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, we are more determined than ever to stop Republican extremism and defend democracy in the midterms by electing Democrats.

Today, JDCA is excited to announce five new midterm endorsements, bringing our 2022 endorsements to a total of 96. We’re proud to endorse Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes for U.S. Senate in Wisconsin, Rep. Peter Welch for U.S. Senate in Vermont, Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02), Rep. Brad Schneider (IL-10), and Glenn Ivey in MD-04. Read more about our latest endorsements.
