Democrats Continue to Lead Despite GOP Obstruction

We hope you had a good Hanukkah filled with light and hope. As we look to the new year, we are committed to getting out the message that Democrats are working tirelessly to Build Back Better despite Republican obstruction. Regardless of the challenges presented by the GOP, Democrats in Congress and in the White House continue to deliver on their promises to the American people.
Just last week, Democrats successfully defeated another GOP effort to shut our government down. While Republicans advocated for a government shutdown over vaccine mandates in the midst of a pandemic and new variant, Democrats ensured the government will stay open through mid-February. The partisan political games Republicans are playing with government is a direct threat to our health and safety. We cannot afford another government shutdown. In addition, there’s plenty of work for Congress to do, including providing essential services to the American people and passing legislation to Build Back Better and protect our democracy as it faces unprecedented attacks from Republican state legislatures.
Republican obstruction in Congress also has a direct impact on Israel. As of today, December 7, it has been 75 days since the House passed funding for Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system with overwhelming Democratic support. In the Senate – despite unanimous support among Democrats – it’s blocked by Republican Senator Rand Paul, with Republican leadership acquiescing to Paul’s obstruction. The GOP blockage of Iron Dome funding puts the safety of innocent Israelis civilians in harm’s way and proves the GOP is not the pro-Israel party it claim to be. Moreover, the ongoing Republican obstruction of Dr. Deborah Lipstadt’s nomination as Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism leaves a critical post vacant at a time when antisemitism is on the rise worldwide. Republicans are choosing to recklessly block Dr. Lipstadt’s confirmation, but we will not let Israel’s security or antisemitism be reduced to political games by the GOP. Join us in standing up to Republican obstruction and tell GOP leadership to end Rand Paul’s blockage of Iron Dome funding, and tell your senator to confirm Dr. Deborah Lipstadt NOW.
In the White House, Congress, and in states across the country, Democrats are working tirelessly against Republican obstruction and for the good of the people. We don’t need a Hanukkah miracle to keep electing Democrats who share our values and continue to defend our democracy, but we do need your support.
