Day 4️⃣ of the Democratic Convention – JDCA hosts the Second Gentleman before the Vice President takes the stage

August 22, 2024

Last night’s convention was exhilarating as Governor Walz gave his moving acceptance speech. The energy in the convention center was powerful, but no moment was as moving as when Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg-Polin, parents of American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin, took the stage and received a minute-long standing ovation with chants of “bring them home.” 320 days of captivity for all the hostages is 320 days too long, and we continue to join Vice President Harris and Governor Walz in demanding the immediate release of all the hostages. We were thrilled to see that sentiment shared by the thousands in the convention hall last night and were proud to join everyone in warmly embracing Jon Polin and Rachel Goldberg-Polin.

Today should be a great day as Vice President Harris gives her acceptance speech, and we’re thrilled to announce that Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will be joining us for JDCA’s final panel of the DNCC: Antisemitism, Extremism, and the 2024 Election. The event begins at 3:00 p.m. CT/4:00 p.m. ET.

RSVP TO VIRTUALLY ATTEND

We’re honored to have the Second Gentleman join the event – his only scheduled public remarks besides his convention speech – to hear more about his leadership in combating antisemitism. We’ll also be joined by Congresswoman Kathy Manning, JCPA CEO Amy Spitalnick, Christian nationalism expert Amanda Tyler, and antisemitism experts Sharon Nazarian and Alan Solow to discuss how combating all forms of antisemitism is vital to our future.

RSVP now for the live stream of “Antisemitism, Extremism, and the 2024 Election,” featuring Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff.

Later in the evening, the next President of the United States, Kamala Harris, will address the country as she officially accepts the Democratic nomination.

Vice President Harris is a leader on every issue important to Jewish Americans, from defending democracy and protecting reproductive rights to combating antisemitism and standing with Israel. We are grateful she stands with Jewish Americans and are proud to stand with her, and we look forward to doing everything we can to ensure she’s elected in 74 days. Join us and add your name if you’re a Jewish American standing with Kamala Harris.

Thank you for your support and partnership. We hope you’ll join JDCA virtually for all the exciting moments in store for the last day of the DNCC.

Sincerely,

Halie Soifer
CEO, Jewish Democratic Council of America
