Celebrate Passover with Jewish Dems

April 4, 2023

Each year, we gather with friends and family to celebrate the festival of freedom, Passover. Around our Seder tables, we tell the story of freedom from oppression. While our Haggadahs focus on the Jewish liberation from bondage in Egypt, we also reflect on efforts to fight oppression in the modern day.

At the end of the Seder, we commit to “next year in Jerusalem,” which has different meanings to different people. For some, it may literally mean visiting Jerusalem next year. For others, it means committing to ensure greater freedoms in the coming year. It is in that spirit that we share JDCA’s 2023 Passover Seder Companion, and encourage you to add a fifth question to your Seder:

What actions will you take in the next year to expand opportunities for equality, equity, justice, freedom, and democracy?

This Seder companion looks at the parallels between the Passover story, current events, and steps we can take to ensure those elected to office represent our values. We hope you’ll take action with JDCA, which advocates for policy, educates and mobilizes Jewish voters, and elects Democrats, all consistent with our core values.

Had we just flipped the House in 2018 – Dayenu! Had we just flipped the White House and Senate in 2020 – Dayenu! Had we just expanded Dems’ Senate majority in 2022 – Dayenu!

Thank you for your support and partnership, and wishing you a Chag Pesach Sameach — Happy Passover.

Warmly,
