READ: JDCA’s Response to Biden’s National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism

May 25, 2023

Earlier today, the Biden White House announced a national strategy to counter antisemitism, which is the most ambitious and comprehensive effort in U.S. history to fight this dangerous scourge of hate. We applaud President Biden, Vice President Harris, Second Gentleman Emhoff, Director of the Domestic Policy Council Rice, Homeland Security Advisor Sherwood-Randall, and Ambassador Lipstadt for their leadership on this critically important issue, and are proud to have been a part of the coalition of organizations that participated in listening sessions with the White House that led to the creation of this strategy.

In recent years, we have seen a sharp rise in antisemitic incidents driven by right-wing extremism and white supremacist ideology, and this strategy aims to directly combat this dangerous trend. President Biden’s comprehensive strategy mobilizes over two dozen federal agencies and contains over 100 specific, actionable steps to end this scourge and prevent antisemitic attacks, all of which will be completed within a year.

Jewish Dems not only support the actions outlined in the President’s strategy, but the principles upon which they are based, which include increasing awareness of antisemitism and Jewish American heritage, improving safety and security for Jewish communities, reversing the normalization of antisemitism, and building cross-community coalitions against all forms of hate.

By mobilizing the full force of the U.S. government, President Biden is aiming to restore the soul of our nation by safeguarding Jewish Americans. Now is the time for the Republican Party and all people of conscience to end the GOP’s embrace of right-wing extremism that has threatened our community, freedom, and rights.

Given his remarkable leadership, Jewish Dems will continue to proudly stand with President Biden and other elected officials and candidates who share his commitment to combating antisemitism and hatred in all its forms.

Also this week — Vice President Harris joined JDCA leaders in Washington. Watch and share Vice President Harris’s powerful remarks to Jewish Dems about her commitment to our community and combating antisemitism in advance of the release of this strategy.

Thank you for your continued partnership.
