Take Action for Israel’s Security

As the political home of Jewish voters, JDCA advocates for the policy priorities of Jewish voters in the United States. JDCA is your home to defend our Jewish and Democratic values, and there’s an opportunity to take action with us this week.

Today, we’re calling on you to urge your senators to reject proposed Joint Resolutions of Disapproval (JRDs) led by Senator Bernie Sanders, which would block crucial military assistance to Israel. Click below to write to your senators.

This week, there are votes in the Senate on resolutions to disapprove of military sales to Israel because of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Cutting military aid as Israel continues to face threats from Hamas, Hezbollah, Iran, and other regional actors would be irresponsible, and JDCA opposes cuts or conditions on aid to Israel. In moments like these, we must ensure Israel has what it needs to defend itself, and we hope you’ll join us in sending a letter to your senators.

Military assistance to Israel should continue in conjunction with humanitarian aid for Gaza. We are concerned about suffering related to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and support efforts to ensure the people of Gaza have access to sufficient food, medicine, and other humanitarian support.

Just last week, the State Department assessed that Israel was not in violation of U.S. law regarding the flow of humanitarian aid in Gaza. President Biden has been pressing for additional humanitarian aid in Gaza, and Israel has expanded access for the delivery of aid. In conjunction with aid deliveries in the north and a widened humanitarian zone, these changes mark significant strides in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, though there is still work to do.

We cannot take steps backward when it comes to Israel’s defense while we are taking steps toward addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Military aid should not be held up while Israel remains under threat.
