Our most important week yet

June 18, 2021

JDCA’s inaugural Week of Action proved the importance of our work and movement. Our team of over 725 volunteers and grassroots activists from 15 state and regional chapters trained, organized, and advocated for our values in over 80 meetings with members of Congress from 14 states in the past week. Thanks to those of you who joined – we appreciated each of you taking your values and voices with us to Congress.

In our Hill meetings, our hundreds of activists focused on three of the most important issues to Jewish voters: combating antisemitism, protecting voting rights, and support for Israel. We thanked members of Congress who helped pass the No Hate Act and emphasized the need for moral leadership from elected officials in speaking out against antisemitism. We expressed our support of the For the People Act, which protects voting rights from attacks at the state level, and made clear that the filibuster cannot be allowed to stand in the way of defending our democracy. We also discussed the importance of defending Israel’s security, including providing U.S. assistance to both Israel and the for Palestinians, and expressed support for President Biden’s diplomatic approach to re-entering the Iran Nuclear Deal.

This is an important moment for our movement. As the only national voice of Jewish Democrats, JDCA continues to establish and build on strong relationships with members of Congress. In these meetings we not only advocated for legislation, but we showed Congress the strength of the Jewish Dems movement.

Join Jewish Dems on Monday, June 21 at 3 p.m. ET for a community conversation on gun violence prevention. We will be joined by Rep. Val Demings; activist Fred Guttenberg; Robyn Thomas, executive director of the Giffords Law Center; and John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. Our special guests will talk about how Democrats are leading on this issue, and what actions you can take to be part of the solution. Click here or below to sign up.

Thank you for your continued support of JDCA. Your support and partnership makes our work possible, and we hope you’ll invest – or deepen your investment – in JDCA today, including by becoming a member of JDCA. We look forward to seeing you on Monday for our community conversation
