Jewish Democrats Launch Targeted Ad Campaign Focused on GOTV Efforts

October 23, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC – The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) has launched one of the most sophisticated efforts to mobilize Jewish voters on behalf of Democratic candidates in the midterm elections.

This highly targeted, multi-faceted campaign is focused on dozens of key battleground Senate and House races. JDCA’s activities include print advertising, extensive social media and online targeting, phone-banking, and on-the-ground canvassing to get out the Jewish vote. The six-figure campaign will reach more than half a million Jewish Democrats in all 52 congressional races where JDCA has endorsed a candidate in the following states: Florida, New Jersey, Arizona, Pennsylvania, Texas, Illinois, Colorado, California, Nevada, Michigan, North Carolina, Minnesota, Washington, Maryland, Virginia, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, New York, Missouri, and Nevada.

“The Jewish Democratic Council of America has launched one of the most extensive and sophisticated targeting of Jewish Democratic voters this election cycle,” said JDCA Executive Director Halie Soifer. “The races we are targeting are very close, and we are convinced that the Jewish vote will make the difference in support of Democrats. By reaching approximately half a million Jewish Democrats – many multiple times – the Jewish Democratic Council of America is playing a significant role in helping Democrats take back the Senate and House.”

The numbers speak for themselves.  To date, JDCA has:

  • Endorsed 58 candidates (52 for Congress and six for governor);
  • Placed six-figure digital ad buys targeting Jewish Democrats in key districts and states;
  • Run or scheduled more than two dozen print ads in Jewish newspapers; and
  • Recruited more than 100 volunteers to participate in dozens of phone-bank and canvass events across the country.

Jewish Americans, who comprise approximately two percent of the national population, can have a disproportionate impact in some of the marquee elections this November, particularly in several close New Jersey, California, Pennsylvania, New York, and Florida congressional races that are critical to Democrats taking back the House. According to an October poll from the Jewish Electorate Institute, 74 percent of Jewish voters plan on casting ballots for Democrats this fall.

“When Jewish voters show up at the polls, Democrats win, and we expect to win big in November.” Soifer said.
