5 ways we’re fighting back

Over the weekend, Elon Musk announced that all federal employees must send him an email detailing five things they accomplished in the past week or face termination.

In solidarity with federal employees, JDCA’s response is the following:

1. Led an effort to mobilize tens of thousands of Jewish Americans to write and call their members of Congress. We’re imploring Congress to assert its constitutional authority, which has been stripped away by the president’s illegal spending cuts and elimination of congressionally mandated U.S. government agencies, and defend our democracy amid the administration’s persistent attacks.
2. Prepared to help Democrats win key 2025 elections in Wisconsin, Virginia, New Jersey, and elsewhere while amplifying that public opinion is turning against Trump and Republicans, including in red districts and states. Stay tuned – opportunities to get involved with our election organizing are coming soon!
3. Supported Senate Democrats as they defended Medicaid, Social Security, Medicare, food assistance, affordable housing, affordable prescription drugs, public education, public safety and health, veterans benefits, and more social services from being slashed by Republicans. The GOP blocked all Democratic efforts and instead cleared the path for Trump’s tax cuts for billionaires.
4. Denounced the Trump administration’s dangerous alignment with right-wing extremists, including Steve Bannon, who just this weekend gave a Nazi salute and a deeply offensive statement that Jews who don’t support MAGA are an “enemy” of Israel. We also denounced this administration’s alignment with the far-right abroad, which contributed to the Alternative for Germany (AfD) Party gaining an historic 20.8% of the vote in Germany’s election.
5. Stood with Israel amid a devastating week of brutality against hostages perpetrated by Hamas and continued to demand the immediate return of the hostages while also denouncing the unconscionable foreign policy blunders by this White House, including blaming Ukraine for Russia’s assault on its territory, aligning with Russia and our adversaries, cutting U.S. foreign aid, and dismantling the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
