Ohio 2022 Endorsements & Voting Information

    • Important Deadlines for Ohio
    – Voter Registration: Oct. 9
    – Absentee ballots: Application: noon on Nov. 5, Completion: postmarked by Nov. 8 (Election Day), received by Nov. 18
    – Early Voting: Starts: Oct. 12, Ends: 2 p.m. on Nov. 7

    Rules and requirements
    – To register online, voters must provide an Ohio driver’s license or Ohio ID card number, and the last 4 digits of their Social Security card.
    – Voters must provide proof of ID at the polls in order to vote.
    – One ballot drop box per county is available.
    – Polling places are open from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm.

    Ohio
    Rep. Tim Ryan (OH-Sen)
    Representative Tim Ryan has been serving the people of Ohio’s 13th district in Congress since 2003. He has fought to lower college costs, strengthen the middle class, and work to end the heroin epidemic. Rep. Ryan believes that healthcare is a basic human right and will continue to promote legislation that expands access to both quality and affordable healthcare. He will protect individuals with pre-existing conditions from being denied coverage and wants to continue to build upon the Affordable Care Act. He is an advocate for gender equality and female reproductive freedom. He supports criminal justice reform, LGBTQ+ equality, and wants to fight climate change quickly. He wants to limit our dependence on foreign oil and jumpstart Ohio’s green energy economy. In addition, he supports a strong U.S.-Israel partnership, a two-state solution, opposes BDS, and supported the Iran Nuclear Deal. In Congress, Tim Ryan cosponsored numerous pieces of pro-Israel legislation, including the Israel Relations Normalization Act of 2021, which promotes normalization agreements between Israel and Arab states, as well as legislation condemning BDS. Before running for Congress, he was a State Senator. JDCA endorsed Tim Ryan for his House race in 2020.
    Nan Whaley (OH-Gov)
    Nan Whaley was elected as Mayor of Dayton, Ohio in 2013, and re-elected in 2017. During her time in office, she focused on economic development, education, accessibility, and fighting the opioid crisis. Whaley’s gubernatorial campaign has focused on investing in jobs for Ohio, ending corruption, restoring ethics, and defending abortion rights. Whaley is challenging incumbent Republican Mike DeWine who faces serious corruption accusations. We are excited to endorse her.
    Rep. Shontel Brown (OH-11)
    Congresswoman Shontel Brown has represented Ohio’s 11th District since 2021. Prior, she served on the Cuyahoga County Council and as Chair of the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party. She worked in Ohio to declare racism a public health crisis, expand economic development projects, and improve countywide human services. In Congress, she has introduced legislation to expand access to school meals and improve veteran health. Her priorities include ending gun violence, improving healthcare, and promoting justice, all of which directly align with our values. Rep. Brown is a proven and dedicated friend to Israel and Jewish Americans, and thanks to our work, the Jewish vote played a crucial role in her election. JDCA endorsed Rep. Brown in 2021, 2022, and 2024.
    Rep. Greg Landsman (OH-01)
    Before being elected to Congress in 2022, Rep. Landsman served his community as a member of the Cincinnati City Council since 2018. Prior to entering politics, Rep. Landsman worked as a nonprofit leader and a public educator. He is a Jewish member of Congress and has worked with the Tauber/Rashi Rise Together Initiative, an organization that works in Israeli cities to invest in young people. On the Cincinnati City Council, then-Councilmember Landsman secured historic investments in transit and infrastructure in the Cincinnati area and has fought to ensure that Cincinnati children have access to two years of quality preschool. In Congress, his priorities focus on the prevention of democratic backsliding, wider access to affordable healthcare, and ensuring a high level of public safety. He currently serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, the Congressional Jewish Caucus, and the Caucus on Black-Jewish Relations. Rep. Landsman has been a loud voice in combating antisemitism in Congress following October 7. In June 2024, Rep. Landsman went to Israel with a bipartisan Congressional delegation to meet with key Israeli leaders and discuss the return of the hostages. JDCA endorsed Rep. Landsman in 2022 and 2024.
    Rep. Emilia Sykes (OH-13)
    Before being elected to Congress in 2022, Rep. Emilia Sykes served her community as a state representative for Ohio’s 34th District. In the state House, she fought for tax cuts for working families, increased access to high-speed internet, and stood up for victims of domestic abuse. Rep. Sykes believes in a strong U.S.-Israel relationship and has attended a Trade Development Mission with the Jewish Federation of Cleveland aimed at promoting partnerships between Ohio and Israeli companies. In Congress, she works to bring down the cost of higher education, increase access to quality healthcare, and deliver results for the people of Northeast Ohio. Rep. Sykes currently serves on the Committee on Science, Space & Technology and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. JDCA endorsed Rep. Sykes in 2022 and 2024.
