September 14, 2018

September 14, 2018

Friends,

The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) hopes you had a sweet and joyful Rosh HaShanah with family and friends, and wishes you a happy and healthy new year. As we transition to Yom Kippur, we wish you a meaningful and easy fast, as well as time for repentance and reflection.

Despite pausing for the holidays, JDCA continues to charge ahead toward the midterm elections, which are just 53 days away. This week, JDCA endorsed six House and Senate candidates who share our values, bringing the total number of JDCA endorsements to 31 – with even more to come. JDCA also redesigned its website to make it easier for you join us in taking action and advocating for our values. Read on and learn more…

Jewish Dems wish you a meaningful fast

Yom Kippur begins on Tuesday evening, and we wish you a meaningful and easy fast. As we reflect on the past year, we are inspired to advocate for policies that are guided by our values. For JDCA, that means supporting elected officials and candidates who share our Jewish Democratic values and bringing about meaningful political change. Our advocacy work – supporting a strong U.S.-Israel relationship, fighting for reproductive rights, freedom of speech, separation of religion and state, racial and social justice, gun safety, and access to affordable healthcare – is vital in these difficult times, and we aim to ensure our government reflects our values in the new year. Please consider supporting JDCA today to help us be even more effective in advocating for these values and bringing about political change in November.

Jewish Dems endorse six more candidates

This week, JDCA endorsed Sen. Joe Donnelly (IN) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (CA) for re-election, Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) for election to the U.S. Senate, and House candidates Harley Rouda (CA-48), Kim Schrier (WA-8), and Jeff Van Drew (NJ-2). This brings JDCA’s total number of Senate and House endorsements to 31 in an election cycle that could see Democrats retake the U.S. House of Representatives and possibly the U.S. Senate. JDCA plans to announce additional endorsements prior to November.

JDCA’s endorsement process has focused on supporting candidates whose positions are aligned with the JDCA platform and our values. In addition, JDCA is targeting races where the Jewish vote could impact the outcome of the election, either defending a Democratic incumbent or supporting a strong Democratic challenger aiming to flip a seat from red to blue. We all know these elections will be very close, and we are specifically targeting races where the Jewish vote will make the difference in support of the Democrat in November.
