JDCA Endorses Additional Wave of Strong Candidates as Midterms Approach

October 23, 2018

WASHINGTON, DC — The Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA) – the voice for Jewish Democrats and progressive, pro-Israel values – announced Monday that it was endorsing 12 additional candidates ahead of the midterms. With an endorsement list now totaling 58 candidates, JDCA has been strategically endorsing Democratic candidates in key House, Senate, and gubernatorial races where the Jewish vote could be critical to ensuring a Democratic win.  This wave of endorsements comes as JDCA is launching a sophisticated national Get Out the Jewish Vote (GOTJV) campaign and volunteer operation.

In this latest round, JDCA is endorsing House candidates Greg Stanton (AZ-09), Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (FL-26), Steven Horsford (NV-04), Perry Gershon (NY-01), Max Rose (NY-11), Antonio Delgado (NY-19), Joseph Morelle (NY-25), Mary Gay Scanlon (PA-05), and Elaine Luria (VA-02). JDCA is also endorsing gubernatorial candidates Gavin Newsom (CA), Stacey Abrams (GA), and Tom Wolf (PA).

“We a thrilled to endorse this slate of strong candidates who represent both Jewish and Democratic values, and we are confident they will win with strong support from the Jewish community on November 6th,” said Halie Soifer, JDCA Executive Director.

Just last week, JDCA issued its sixth round of endorsements with a slate that included Senators Ben Cardin (D-MD), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Tim Kaine (D-VA) and Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) as well as house candidates Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick (AZ-02), Jason Crow (CO-06), Lauren Baer (FL-18), Donna Shalala (FL-27), Andy Levin (MI-09), Haley Stevens (MI-11), Susie Lee (NV-03), and Chrissy Houlahan (PA-06), as well as gubernatorial endorsees, Rep. Jared Polis (CO), J.B. Pritzker (IL), and Andrew Gillum (FL).

“JDCA is endorsing extremely strong candidates who both represent our values and will rally the Jewish vote in the midterms.  These candidates are committed to protecting the environment, ensuring reproductive rights, making quality affordable healthcare available to every American, ensuring common sense gun laws, and supporting a strong relationship between the United States and Israel. We know from non-partisan polling that Jews will overwhelmingly support Democrats, and we are confident that the Jewish vote will play a critical role in helping Democrats take back control of Congress in November.”
