Democrats Are Winning the Shutdown Fight
It’s been over a week since Republicans shut down the federal government. Over a week of Republicans choosing a shutdown over lowering healthcare costs.
At this juncture, it appears Democrats are winning the messaging war – with 78% of Americans agreeing that the Affordable Care Act (ACA) subsidies should be extended. That means that four out of five Americans agree with Democrats’ effort to save affordable healthcare.
If you agree, tell Congress to end the shutdown and protect affordable healthcare.
TELL CONGRESS: END THE SHUTDOWN
If Republicans had their way, they’d allow the ACA subsidies to expire, which would on average double – and potentially even quadruple – the price of healthcare for 24 million people. Democrats refused to allow that to happen, and Republicans refused to negotiate on extending the healthcare subsidies, which is why we’re currently in a government shutdown.
The GOP controls the White House, the Senate, and the House, and it’s incumbent on them to work with Democrats to protect access to affordable healthcare and reopen the government.
Republicans own this shutdown. Your three members of Congress should hear from you to continue the pressure on the GOP to negotiate on healthcare and end the shutdown.
